EMMA ENGLISH CHAMPION AGAIN
Curtis Cup player Emma Duggleby (Malton & Norton) beat Naomi Edwards (Ganton) by 2 and 1 in an all-Yorkshire, 18-hole final of the English women's (close) amateur championship at Aldeburgh Golf Club, Suffolk today.
Emma, winner of this title in 2000 and beaten finalist in 2001, took a stranglehold on the championship when she won the first four holes. Naomi kept plugging away and had got the deficit down to one hole after 15 holes. Unfortunately, she then had a wayward drive to lose the 16th and Emma, who will be 32 years old in October, clinched victory with a birdie 2 at the short 17th.
