ENGLISH GIRLS CLOSE CHAMPIONSHIP

A total of 64 girls have finished the qualifying two 18-hole rounds for this year’s English Girls Close Champion title. The weather started mild, with rain following mid afternoon resulting in a late finish but this didn’t prevented excellent results from many of the girls.
Round 1 saw Sian Reddick (Sene Valley, Kent) make a good start with 68, 5 under par, Sain had 6 birdies, 1 bogey and pars. She put this fantastic result down to sound putting and a good start to the game. Hannah Grant (Enmore Park, Somerset), Kerry-Anne Haskell (Broadstone, Dorset) and Kelly Anne Travers all tied in second position with 70 at the end of the first round.
Round 2 Sian completed another excellent 71 score where at mid play she leads the field with a total qualifying score of 140. Kelly Anne Haskell also kept her round 1 form, scoring 71, 3 under par a total qualifying round of 141. Kiran Matharu scored 4 under par in her second round, 76 / 69 total 145.
Hannah Burke (Mid Herts, Hertfordshire) entered the field as a late reserve and finished –joint 6th overall and will qualify for knockout match play. The cut is at 154 and 2 flights knock out match play will commence Wednesday 30 July, flight 2 will be three players lighter due to injury.
