SCOTT JAMIESON FINISHES 28TH
Scotland international Scott Jamieson from Cathkin Braes, a golf scholarship student at Augusta State University, finished joint 28th in the Men's Fall Preview tournament, one of the first of the new American college golf season, at The Cascades course, Hot Springs in Virginia.
Scott, beaten in the final of the Scottish amateur championship last year and a past Scottish boys open stroke-play title winner at Lanark, had rounds of 72 and 74 over the 6,679yd, par-70 course for a final total of four-over-par 28.
Scott birdied the third and 17th in halves of 36 (one over) and 38 (three over). He had boges at the fourth, fifth, 11th, 12th, 14th and 16th.
England international James Heath from Surrey, also a member of the Augusta State University team, had two rounds of 71 for a total of two-over-par 142. James finished tied for ninth place. He had birdiess at the fourth, 16th and 17th in halves of 36 and 35. James bogeyed the second, eighth and 12th.
Wallace Booth from Crieff, who enrolled at Augusta State on a golf scholarship at the start of the term, was not in the team for this event which was won by John Poucher (UCLA) with scores of 70 and 68 for two-under-par 138.
Kevin Silva (North Carolina) was runner-up on 139 (68 71).
Augusta State finished sixth in the team event, only six shots behind winners UCLA.
