MORE NEWS OF SCOTS GIRLS IN UNITED STATES

Sometimes it is difficult to obtain news of how the Scots girl golfers at the not so well-known (well, on this side of the Atlantic) colleges are playing.
Here's some information we have been able to dig up by trawling through the college websites.
Laura Walker from Nairn Dunbar transferred from McLennan Community College at Waco, Texas to the University of Arkansas Little Rock, where Fiona Gilbert from Carnoustie had already spent a year.
Both played in the UALR team that made the trip north to Madison, Wisconsin for the Badger Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsion.
UALR finished fifth in the women's team event and one thing you should always remember about American college golf or any sport is that great importance is placed on team performances and high finishes.
Laura Walker came 21st with scores of 77 and 85 for 162, two shots ahead of Fiona Gilbert, who tied for 26th place, with scores of 78 and 86.
The individual title was won by Allison Fouch (Michigan State) with 73 and 71 for 144.
Putting the scores of Laura and Fiona into perspective, they were not all that far behind the top UALR scorer at the tournament, Linda Svenssion who had 77 and 80 for 157.
Meanwhile, Emily Ogilivy from Perthshire has had two tournaments as a member of the Sam Houston State University team since she returned after the summer holidays.
Emily finished 10th in the Bobcat Invitational at New Braunfels, Texas (over "The Bandit" Course measuring 5,991yd with a par of 71). She had scores of 78 and 82 for 1670 - nine shots behind individual winner Ashlie Simmons, playing for the combined Texas A&M and Corpus Christi team which won the team event with 638, seven shots ahead of Sam Houston State.
McLennan Community College came eighth with 667 but no news of whether Sjavon Wilson from Murcar and Stephanie Crolla (Longniddry), who both enrolled at McLennan in August, played and, if they did, how they scored. But we'll keep digging.
Earlier Emily Ogilvy helped Sam Houston State to achieve another second team place. That was in the Nicholls State Colonel Collegiate touornament at The Bridges Golf Club, Bay Saint Louis, MS (I can never remember the American state abbreviations: Is "MS" short for Missouri or Minnesota? Answers on a postcard.
Birmingham Southern wont he team event with 611, 14 shots ahead of Sam Houston State.
Ashley Kelley (Texas State-San Marcos) won the individual tournament with 75 and 73 for 148. Emily Ogilvy came 14th with 79 and 77 for 156.
