GB AND I MAKE CLEAN SWEEP OF FOURSOMES
Even GB and I skipper Ada O'Sullivan did not expect her team to make a 3-0 clean sweep of the openiing foursomes in the Curtis Cup match at Formby this morning.
"I thought we might lead 2-1 at lunchtime so to to 3-0 up is just fantastic," said Ada.
For once the home players outputted the Americans - a fact conceded by United States skipper Martha Kirouac.
"They got the ball rolling a bit better than we did on the greens," she said. "But three points down is not the end of the world. There will be plenty of opportunities for us before the end of Sunday afternoon."
The foursomes results were:
Shelley McKevitt and Emma Duggleby beat Paula Creamer and Jane Park 3 and 2.
Nicola Timmins and Danielle Masters beat Sarah Huarte and Annie Thurman 1 hole.
Anne Laing and Claire Coughlan beat Brittany Lang and Michelle Wie 1 hole.
