BP SCOTTISH UNDER-21 GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP

QUEEN IS KING OF THE CASTLE AT KIRKCALDY

Curtis Cup reserve Clare Queen found her best form of the season to win the BP Scottish Under-21 girls' golf championship at Kirkcaldy on Friday.
Starting the final round in third place, two shots off the pace, Clare birdied four of the last 10 holes to overtake the leaders.
After a 6 at the par-5 17th, Clare needed to get down in two shots from the edge of the green at the 18th to avoid a play-off. She kept her nerve and was able to pitch to set up the title-clinching par 3.
Clare from Drumpellier shot rounds of 69, 73 and 70 for a four-under-par total of 212 - one shot ahead of Welsh left-hander Stephanie Evans (Vale of Llangollen) and last year's runner-up Heather MacRae (Dunblane New), the pair who had been joint overnight leaders.
Stephanie gained second prize by virtue of having a better inward half than Heather in the last round, in which both shot 73.
Defending champion Jenna Wilson (Strathaven) finished fourth on 217.
Kylie Walker (Buchanan Castle) cracked the Kirkcaldy women's course record with a brilliant third round of five-under-par 67. She won the Menzies Trophy for the leading Under-18 finisher with a 54-hole total of 218.
