ELGA PRESS RELEASE

ENGLISH GIRLS GOLF HIT BY RAIN

Play in the English girls’ Under-13 and Under-15 championships was suspended due to rain.

The Under-15 championship round one is due restart on Wednesday at 8.16am. One round of stroke play to be played, after which the first 16 will qualify for Flight 1 and the second 16 qualify for Flight 2.

The Under-13 first-round scores will count for qualifying. The second round has been abandoned due to rain.

The first 16 qualify for Flight 1 and the remaining 16 qualify for Flight 2.

Kelly Tidy (Manchester), 12 years old, is the leading qualifier with a score of 76. Kelly will play Rebecca McIntyre (Eden) in the first round of match play.

Kelly plays off a 7.3 handicap and is a member of the England Birdie Squad and the Lancashire county girls’ team, having held the Lancs Under-12 title last year. Kelly has played since the age of five. She first went to the driving range with her father and grandmother, Margaret Tidy.

Margaret said "Kelly is a smashing golfer and we are all so proud of her".
