ENGLISH WOMEN'S MID-AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
Nicola Timmins (Sene Valley), Rachel Lomas (Hallowes) and Sophie Walker (Kenwick Park) headed the field of 62 on 143 at the end of the 36-hole qualifying test at the English women’s mid-amateur championship over the High Course at Moor Park Golf Club, Hertfordshire.
The par 73 course saw a morning round of 70, against the CSS of 73. Other morning par or better scores were produced by Kelly Hanwell (Northampton) 72, Kerry Smith (Waterlooville) 72, Naomi Edwards (Ganton) 73 and defending champion Nicola Timmins (Sene Valley) 73
The event started following torrential overnight rain.
The leading qualifiers were: Nicola Timmins with a 73 and a 70; Rachel Lomas, also 73 and 70 and Sophie 76 and 67.
Sophie’s 67 was the lowest score of the day.
