DANIELLE TOPPLIES SOPHIE IN SECOND ROUND
Leading qualifier Sophie Walker (Kenwick Park) lost in the second round of the match-play stages of the English women’s mid-amateur (formerly known as the "intermediate") championship at Moor Park Golf Club, Hertfordside.
Sophie, last year’s English stroke-play champion and a beaten semi-finalist in the British women’s open amateur championship at Gullane in June this year, lost to American college student Danielle Roseberry (Durham City).
Curtis Cup selection Nicola Timmins (Sene Valley) had a good win over Laura Eastwood (Yelverton).
Kerry Smith (Waterlooville) played exceptionally well in beating RoseanneYoungman (Oundle) and she was eight under par for the holes playing against Emma Brown (West Wilts).
