LPGA TOUR: STATE FARM CLASSIC ROUND 3

VIKKI'S GRANDSTAND FINISH TO THIRD ROUND

Vikki Laing from Musselburgh found her feet on the United States LPGA Tour in the third round of the State Farm Classic at Springfield, Illinois in what is only her second event on the world's No 1 female pro circuit.
She missed the cut in her debutAfter scraping past the halfway cut and thus ensuring her first pay check, the 23-year-old Scot showed the class that earned her Curtis Cup honours as an amateur by covering the last six holes of her third round in five under par.
San Francisco-based Vikki birdied the 13th, got an eagle at the 15th and then birdies at the 16th and 17th for an inward half of four-under-par 32.She had earlier birdied the fourth but bogeyed the fifth and 10th on her way to a four-under-par round of 68 and a 54-hole total of five-under 211.
Fellow Scot Kathryn Marshall from Broughty Ferry did even better. She had a 66 to improve to eight-under 208.
Big-hitting Laura Davies had a 67 for 210.
Fog delayed the start of the day's play by an hour and tournament leader Christina Kim from California was at 18-under-par for the tournament after three holes of her round round. Her earlier scores were 62 and 66.
