FIFER'S CANADIAN TEAM CONTINUE
TO LEAD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Canada, coached by Dean Spriddle from Dunfermline, go into Saturday’s final round of the women’s world amateur team golf championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy with a three-stroke lead over Sweden with the United States a further three shots back in third place at Rio Mar Country Club, Rio Grande in Puerto Rico.
The Canadians - Mary Ann Lapointe, Laura Matthews and Lindsay Knowlton - are seeking to become the first team to lead from start to finish since the United States made every post a winning one in 1996.
At one point in the rain-interrupted third round, Sweden joined Canada in the lead at nine-under-par overall.
Great Britain & Ireland are tied for 14th place on 14-over-par 446 – 21 shots behind the Canadians.
