MIDLOTHIAN COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
TOP SEED SALLY KO'D IN QUARTER-FINALS
Sally Watson, the 13-year-old Elie & Earlsferry player who headed the qualifiers, was beaten in the quarter-finals of the match-play stages of the Midlothian women’s county championship at Ratho Park today. Sally’s sister Rebecca lost in the first round in the morning.
Top seed Sally was knocked out by Jane Turner (Mortonhall) by 3 and 1.
Claire Hargan (Mortonhall) is now favourite to complete a hat-trick of Midlothian titles. The No. 2 seed, Claire will play Claire MacDonald (Gullane) in Sunday morning’s first semi-final (9.05am).
The first semi-final will feature Jane Turner (Mortonhall) against Noreen Fenton (Merchants of Edinburgh) at 9am.
The final will tee off at 2pm on Sunday.
