MARIA DUNNE WINS AGAIN WITH
BECKY SECOND AND FIONA THIRD
Ireland international player Maria Dunne from County Dublin has scored another victory on the US women's college circuit.
A golf scholarship student at Bethune-Cookman College, Maria had rounds of 75 and 79 for a winning aggregate of 154 in the Women's Collegiate Championship over the Sugar Creek course at Atlanta, Georgia.
Bethune-Cookman College has a women's golf squad packed with Europeans and Maria's closest rival in this tournament was team-mate Becky Dowell from Thornecombe, England. BGecky had scores of 78 and 77 to be runner-up, a shot behind on 156.
A third Bethune-Cookman College team player, Fiona Brunton from Cornwall, tied for fourth place on 157 with rounds of 76 and 81.
Needless to say, Bethune-Cookman College won the team event by a wide margin. With a total of 630 they finished 12 shots ahead of Jackson State with Southern University (652) third.
