LOUISE STAHLE TURNING PRO

SWEDE'S SHOCK ANNOUNCEMENT ON
EVE OF USA COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHIP

Louise Stahle, the Swedish girl who went to Arizona State University on a four-year golf scholarship after winning the St Rule Trophy and then the British women's open amateur championship at Gullane the following week last June, is to turn professional in July.
The 20-year-old, top ranked on the US women's college circuit, has won twice and finished second four times in the nine college events she has played in during the 2004-2005 US college golf season.
After the upcoming NCAA championship at Sunriver, Oregon, Louise is returning to Europe to defend the British title at Littlestone, Kent, then play for Sweden in the European team championships, which are being held at Karlstad, Sweden during the first week of July.
Then she plans to turn pro later that month and seek sponsors' invitations for events on the US LPGA Tour and/or the Ladies European Tour.
As an amateur she tied for 42nd in the Weetabix British Women's Open last year and tied for ninth in the HP Open, an LET event in Sweden last summer. In March this year, Miss Stahle tied for 37th place in the LPGA's Safeway International tournament near Phoenix.
