PALMER CUP

US AND EUROPE TIED AT END OF DAY ONE

Europe and the United States were tied 6-6 at the end of the first day in the annual college students’ golf match for the Palmer Cup over the Irish Course at Whistling Straits, Mosel on the shores of Lake Michigan, Wisconsin.
The morning four-ball ties were shared 2-2 and Europe won the last three of the eight singles to split the afternoon honours 4-4.
Scott Jamieson (Augusta State University), the only Scot in the European team of eight, won his four-ball in partnership with David Skinns (Tennessee University) from Lincoln. They beat Matt Every and Matthew Rosenfeld 3 and 2.
