EAST DIVISION INTER-COUNTY TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
MIDLOTHIAN AND EAST LOTHIAN FIRST
DAY WINNERS IN EAST DIVISION JAMBOREE
Fife's hopes of completing a hat-trick of title triumphs in the East Division women's inter-county team golf championship at Alloa were dented on the opening day when Midlothian beat them 6-3
In the other match, East Lothian beat Stirling & Clackmannan 5-4.
Fife and Midlothian shared the foursomes 1 1/2pt each but the defending champions were surprisingly outgunned in the singles. Louise Kenney (Pitreavie) was Fife's only winner. She beat another former international, Claire Hargan (Mortonhall) by 2 and 1.
Jo Carthew (Ladybank) and Karen Marshall (Baberton) halved the second singles before Midlothian made a clean sweep of the remaining four ties.
Kirsten Blackwood (Glencorse), Wendy Nicholson (Broomieknowe), Claire MacDonald (Gullane Ladies) and Belinda Murphy (Mortonhall) all chalked wins.
Stirling & Clackmannan took the foursomes 2-1 from East Lothian but lost the singles 4-2
Kelly Brotherton (Tulliallan) beat former Curtis Cup player and past British and Scottish champion Alison Davidson (Stirling) by 2 and 1 in the top tie.
