UNITED STATES FUTURES TOUR

FIRST PRO WIN FOR HEATHER STIRLING
Florida-based Heather Stirling has won her first event after three years as a professional golfer on the United States Futures Tour.
The 28-year-old from Bridge of Allan, competing in the annual Heather Wilbur Scholarship charity tournament at Moncton, New Brunswick in Canada, beat Julie Turner from Skaneateles, New York State at the second hole of a sudden-death play-off after they had tied at two-under-par 70 in the 18-hole event which followed two pro-ams to raise funds for scholarships awarded in Wilbur’s name.
Heather Wilbur, who played on the Futures Tour, died of leukemia at the age of 27 in October 2003.
Heather Stirling picked up a cheque for $1,000.
"That’s my first win since the Helen Holm Scottish women’s amateur tournament in 2002," said Heather who caddies in Florida during the winter months to fund her Futures Tour expenses in the summer.
"It's been fun being here in a nice and relaxed place in Canada," said the shy red head. "The community, the people and the cause are great."
Let's hope this change of luck will give Heather the confidence to reproduce the form that won her Curtis Cup honours for Great Britain & Ireland.
A total of 20 players took part in the "shoot-out tournament."
Leading scores:
70 Heather Stirling(Scotland), Jan Turner (New York State). (Heather won play-off at second extra hole).

72 Libby Smith (Vermont, Stephanie Georgie (Pennsylvania).
73 Kareen Qually (Alberta), Carrie Vaughan (New Brunswick), Kylie Pratt (Australia).
74 Meredith Duncan (Louisiana), Courtney Reno (Michigan), Lori Atsedes (New York State), Dana Lacey (West Australia).
