ELGA PRESS RELEASE
DIANE BAILEY IS ELGA PRESIDENT-ELECT
English Ladies’ Golf Association has appointed Diane Bailey MBE to be the next President of the Association and Sarah Miller as the next vice chairman of ELGA.
The posts will be taken up at the annual general meeting in December for 2006 and 2007.
Diane’s appointment marks the continuation of a long association with ELGA. She captained England to consecutive European team championship victories in 1991 and 1993 and, more recently, as Chairman of Training, she was involved in the development of the ELGA Elite squads and the subsequent acquisition of Lottery funding.
Diane, who is a member of Reigate Heath Golf Club and currently a Director of The Golf Foundation Executive Committee, said:
“I am delighted and very proud to have been given this honour and will do my utmost to uphold the traditions of ELGA and this great game of ours. Little did I know all those years ago when my father forced a club into my hands, and insisted I swing it, that golf would become such an important part of my life – I’ve been very fortunate”.
