SENIOR WOMEN'S HOME INTERNATIONALS
SCOTLAND LEADING IN ALL FIVE SINGLES
Scotland looked to be well on their way to an opening-day win over Ireland when they led in all five singles - admittedly in the very early stages - of their match at Radyr Golf Club, Wales in the Senior Women's Home internationals.
The morning foursomes had been shared 1-1 with Valerie Hassett and Marilyn Henderson (Ireland) beating Pamela Williamson and Rose Anderson 3 and 2 before Moira Thomson and Liz Campbell squared matters for the Scots by beating Mary Gorry and Mary Madden by two holes.
In the singles, Pamela Willimason was three up after seven holes against Val Hassett; Moria Thomson was three up after five against Marilyn Henderson; Fiona De Vries was four up after five holes against Mary Gorry; Lorna Bennett was two up after three holes on Roma English and Noreen Fenton was two up after three holes against Eileen MacMullen.
Defending champions England led 2-o after the foursomes against Wales.
