FOUR SCOTS BOUND FOR TEXAS
Walker Cup player Lloyd Saltman (Craigielaw), John Gallagher (Swanston), Scottish women’s champion Fiona Lockhart (St Regulus) and Jenna Wilson (Strathaven) will form Scotland’s mixed golf team for The Spirit international amateur championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club, Trinity, Texas from October 12 to 15.
Twenty-four countries have accepted invitations to send four players to compete in the self-styled “Olympics of amateur golf,” held every two years at the same venue, and decided on a better-ball format.
England’s quartet is Walker Cup teenager Oliver Fisher, Jamie Moul, English women’s champion Felicity Johnson and Sophie Walker.
