BRITISH WOMEN'S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

RECORD ENTRY FOR BRITISH WOMEN'S AMATEUR

A record number of entries for next month's British women's open amateur championship has resulted in the cut falling at 2.2 of a handicap.
All entries with 2.2 or less of a handicap are certain starters in the field.
Among those on the waiting list is Dawn Dewar (Monifieth & Stirling University) in 13th place.
The top players worldwide will converge on The Royal County Down Golf Club, Newcastle in Northern Ireland for the championship, to be played from June 13 to 17.
The prestigious British title carries with it a full exemption for the winner to the Weetabix Women's British Open.
Louise Stahle from Sweden, title-winner in 2004 and 2005, will not be  defending the title. She is now a tour professional.
