ENGLISH WOMEN'S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSIP

JOHNSON v MATHARU, MONTGOMERY v EDWARDS
IN ENGLISH WOMEN'S AMATEUR SEMI-FINALS
Felicity Johnson (Harborne) has found her form just in time to defend the English women's close amateur championship at West Lancashire Golf Club this week.
This morning, the Birmingham player beat Emma Duggleby (Malton & Norton), one of the leading English players over more than a decade, in the first quarter-final. Felicity won by two holes.
Miss Johnson will now play teenager Kiran Matharu (Cookridge) for a place in the final. Kiran won by 3 and 1 against Clara Leathers in the second quarter-final.
The other semi-final will feature another teenager, Danielle Montgomery, who has arrived from Australia this year, against Naomi Edwards.
Danielle bt Corisande Lee 2 and 1 while Naomi beat Rachel Bell 3 and 1.
So the semi-finals line-up is:
Johnson v Matharu.
Montgomery v Edwards.
