SALLY IMPROVES TO FIFTH PLACE IN SWEDEN

 

Scottish girls’ champion Sally Watson from South Queensferry improved to joint fifth position with a second-round 76 for a two-round rally of 154  in the Skandia Junior Girls Open tournament at Kungsbacka Golf Club, near Gothenburg Sweden today (Sat).

Sally, a 14-year-old member of Elie & Earslferry Golf Club, birdied the long 12^th but dropped shots at the second, fourth, seventh, 11^th and 18^th, in halves of 39 and 37. The only British player in the field, she had a 78 in the first round.

Anna Nordqvist, the Swedish girl who won the British girls’ open title last year, is six shots clear of the field of 57 with one round to play. She has had rounds of 75 and 70 for 145.
