SKANDIA JUNIOR OPEN

SALLY WATSON BEST-PLACED SCOT

 

Scottish Under-18 match-play girls champion Sally Watson was the best-placed Scot with a share of 13th place in a field of 57 players for the girls’ competition when the 54-hole Skandia Junior Open began at Boras Golf Club, near Gothenburg, Sweden.

Sally shot a 78 (39-39). Two-shot leader was Sara Monberg (Denmark) with a 72. British girls’ open champion Anna Nordqvist (Sweden) was joint third on 75.

In the boys' section, Lewis Kirton (Newmachar) was joint 18th with a 73 (35-38), the same score as Luke Joy from Broadstone.

Cameron Gray (West Kilbride) had a poor inward half of 41 after very good play in an outward 34. His 75 put him in joint 31st place.

James Byrne from Banchory, had a 76 (39-37) to be joint 46th in a field of 97 boys.

New Scottish boys champion James White (Lundin) had a disappointing 80 after halves of 37 and 43. He is in joint 72nd place alongwith Dale Whitenll (Forrester Park) (44-36).

Christoffer Palfi (Sweden) had a two-shot lead with a 68.
