Stephen Ellis, a 59-year-old from Yorkshire who now lives in Cowal , won the Scottish seniors' open amateur stroke-play championship on a final day of fluctuating fortunes at

Defending champion Gordon MacDonald (Callander) posted a final score of 75 to be one of four players who matched John Baldwin's aggregate of 225. The American was officially placed second because he had the lowest last round.
Overnight leader Jim Watt (Edzell) finished a creditable seventh with a 79 for 227.
