US COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHIP

ANOTHER 76 BY TARA DELANEY

Ireland’s Tara Delaney dropped to joint 49th at the halfway stage with a second round of four-over-par 76 for a tally of 152 in the NCAA Division 1 women’s college championship at Ohio State University, Columbus.
Tara started her second round with a double bogey 6 and finished it with a double bogey 6.
She did birdied the ninth, 11th and 14th but three double bogeys over 36 holes have been costly at the highest level in women’s college golf over a course measuring 6,203yd with a par of 72.
Kent State University, Ohio team-mate Becky Wood from Glossop had no birdies in here second-round 79 for 156 and a share of 88th place.
Tara’s sister Karen Delaney had an 81 for 166 to be sharing 123rd place in a field of 126. She had a triple bogey 7 at the 16th but did birdie the fifth and seventh.
Leading the field with 36 holes to go is Eileen Vargas (Pepperdine) on 139, four strokes clear of Jennifer Osborn (Arizona State).
Arizona State (586) lead the team event by three shots from Duke. Kent State (619) are 23rd in a field of 24.
