WELSH CALL OFF STROKE-PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP
The Welsh men's open amateur stroke-play golf championship was cancelled at Southerndown Golf Club today.
The 72-hole tournament was reduced to 54 holes when the course was flooded on Friday It was planned to play one round today with the top 36 advancing to Sunday's final two rounds.
But the weather did not improve overnight and the Welsh Golfing Union finally called off the event, citing "extreme weather conditons" as the reason.
Several leading Scottish players had made the long trip down to Bridgend, South Wales.
