NORTH TAKE GIRLS’ DIVISIONAL
TITLE FROM EAST 2-1 IN FINAL
North beat title-holders East 2-1 in the final of the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association’s girls’ inter-division tournament on a gloriously sunny day
Annabel Niven (Crieff) and Eilidh Mackay (Nairn Dunbar) gave North a good start in the all-foursomes match by beating Rachael Archibald (Merchants of Edinburgh) and Cara Easton (Dalmahoy) 5 and 4.
Then Lauren MacCallum (McDonald Ellon) and Sammy Vass (Tain) clinched the title for North by beating the all-Baberton pairing of Rachael Watton and Gillian Simpson 3 and 2.
East won the third and last foursome with Arlene McGarty (Bathgate) and Hannah Dalrymople (Glenbervie) beating Kirsty Moss (Monifieth) and Ashley Smith (Kirriemuir) by 2 and 1.
South and West were joint third as they drew the play-off for the third and fourth places 1 ½ pt each.
These year’s tournament was restricted to girls with handicaps of eight and higher to give them a taste of representative golf.

East 3, West 0 (R Archibald & C Easton bt K Differ & J Meldrum 4 and 2; R Watton & G Simpson bt V Smith & E Briggs 2 and 1; A McGarty & H Dalrymple bt A Lewis & L Meldrum 1 hole).
Final
North 2, East 1 (Niven & Mackay bt Archibald & Easton 5 and 4; MacCallum & Vass bt Simpson & Watton 3 and 2; Moss & A Smith lost to McGarty & Dalrymple 2 and 1).
Third & Fourth place play-off
South 1 ½, West 1 ½ (McDonald & Harvey halved with L Meldrum & V Smith; Craigie & Mitchell lost to Lewis & Differ 2 and 1; Ford & Bain bt J Meldrum & Briggs 2 and 1.
