EAST DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

FIFE GO TO COUNTY FINALS AS EAST CHAMPIONS

FIFE overpowered Midlothian in the decisive match of the three-day East Division women’s inter-county team championship at Dunbar Golf Club today .

Both teams started the last day with 100 per cent records but Fife soon forged clear of Midlothian, who won the East title last year and went on to take the Scottish championship as well.

Fife won the foursomes 2 ½- ½ and the singles 4-2 for a convincing 6 ½-2 ½ victory that sends them to the Scottish county finals at The Hirsel Golf Club in September as East Division champions.

Fife had the most successful individuals of the championship with Curtis Cup second reserve Krystle Caithness and former Scottish champion Fiona Lockhart both achieving 5pt out of six.

Not far behind in the Fife effort were Louise Kenney abnd Katrina Milne with 4 ½ pt each.
