EAST DIVISION TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDLOTHIAN v FIFE FOR TITLE AT DUNBAR

Scottish champions Midlothian and Fife, the only two teams with 100 per cent records after two days of the East Division women’s inter-county team golf championship, meet in the decisive match at Dunbar Golf Club on Wednesday.

The winners will be East champions and will go forward to the Scottish county championship finals at The Hirsel Golf Club in September.

In Today's matches, title-holders Midlothian ground out a 5-4 win over East Lothian. Midlothian gained a vital 2-1 edge in the foursomes and then got the singles wins they needed from Claire Hargan, Wendy Nicholson and Belinda Murphy.

Fife overpowered Stirling & Clackmannan 6 ½-2 ½ after making a clean sweep of the three morning foursomes. In the singles Louise Kenney from Pitreavie had a convincing 5 and 4 win over Curtis Cup first reserve Heather MacRae (Dunblane New).  Other Fife singles winners were Fiona Lockhart (St Regulus) and Jocelyn Carthew (Ladybank).
