AREA TEAM GOLF TITLE AT
Fife, with a line-up including Scottish boys champion James White (Lundin) and beaten finalist Michael Main (Thornton), won the Glenvarigill Peugeot Scottish boys’ area team golf championship for a fifth time in all and for the first time since 1996 today (Sunday).
Fife’s total of 367, compiled by White, Main, Scott Crichton and Alex Moir (149 from the foursomes and 218 from the singles) at Paisley Golf Club, won them the trophy and the title by four shots from the North-east quartet of Lewis Kirton (Newmachar), James Byrne (Banchory) and Northern’s Graeme Mitchell and Scott Fraser (foursomes 149, singles 222).
Angus, represented by Ross Bell, Daniel Elder, Josh Clarke and William Bremner (foursomes 146, singles 227), finished a close-up third on 373.
Defending champions Lothians finished back on 384.
