BOOST FOR US CURTIS CUP HOPES

AMERICAN AMATEURS FINISH JOINT 10TH

 

An indication of the strength of the United States team for the Curtis Cup defence against Great Britain & Ireland at Bandon Dunes, Oregon on July 29-30 comes with the joint 10th place finish in the US Women's Open of two members of the American team.

Jane Park and Amanda Blumenherst, both 19, finished joint 10th on 293 - nine shots behind play-off participants Annika Sorenstam and Amanda Blumenherst.

Jane and Amanda shared the leading amateur award.
