FINDLAY IN FREE FALL WITH SECOND-ROUND
81 IN OPENING EVENT OF US COLLEGE SEASON

Fraserburgh-born Jordan Findlay, pictured right, crashed out of the top 10 in the Carpet Capital Collegiate golf tournament at the weekend with a second-round 81.
He had been lying joint ninth after a sparkling opening round of three-under-par 69 over the 7,002yd course at The Farm Club, Rocky Face in Georgia.
Findlay, just starting his second year at East Tennessee State University and playing his first event of the new 2006-2007 US college golf season, dropped down to a share of 60th place on 150.
Jordan started his round at the 10th hole and was not doing too badly with birdies at the 12th and 13th after a bogey at the 11th. Things started to run away from the Buchan teenager when he bogeyed the 16th and 17th and then double-bogeyed the 18th.
That was followed by a triple bogey at the first and further bogeys at the second, third and ninth in a total of 42 shots for the last nine holes he played.
Wallace Booth from Comrie, in his fourth and final year at Augusta State University, shot a second-round 67 – an improvement of seven strokes – to be sharing 10th place on 141 with Irishman Gareth Shaw, an East Tennessee State team-mate of Findlay’s.
Edinburgh-born Welshman Rhys Davies, a Walker Cup player and recognised as the top player on the East Tennessee State University team, is back in joint 37th place after scores of 75 and 70 for 145.
Darren Blair (North Carolina State) is the 36-hole leader by two strokes with 65 and 69 for 10-under-par 134.
