MACAULAY THIRD AT CHATTANOOGA

CALLUM’S BEST YET IN THE STATES
- BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER

West of Scotland Open champion Callum Macaulay finished third in the Scenic City Intercollegiate golf tournament over the Honors course at Chattanooga, Tennessee.
It was his best finish – topping fifth in the Mason Rudolph tournament of 2004 - since he went to the University of Mississippi three years ago.
But the Tulliallan player, pictured right, should have won the event. He was at his best in compiling opening rounds of 69 and 71 to lead the field on 140. Callum had five birdies in his first round and two eagles and two birdies in his second.
Then he “lost” it in the weather-delayed final round which eventually cost him 80 shots for a total of 220.
That put him three strokes behind tournament winner Garrett Osborn (UAB) and one behind runner-up Rick Cochran (Middle Tennessee).
Macaulay is clearly the best player on the University of Mississippi golf team. In this tournament, the next squad player finished 11 shots behind Calum and in 33rd place.
Mississippi (912) finished sixth behind team winners UNC-Charlotte (890) in a field of 17 colleges.
