LEWIS KIRTON FINISHES FOURTH

AS LOUISVILLE WIN TEAM TITLE
Scotland boy international Lewis Kirton from Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire achieved one of his best finishes in his freshman year at the University of Louisville, Kentucky in the weather-hit Robert Kepler Intercollegiate golf tournament over the Ohio State University's Scarlet course at Columbus, Ohio on Sunday.
Kirton, pictured right, finished joint fourth in a field of 90 with rounds of 71 and 77 for a total of 148 over a long course, 7,455yd, with a testing par of 71. Michigan State's Matt Harmon was the two-stroke individual winner with two rounds of 71 for 142.
One of Kirton's team-mates, Derek Fathauer) finished runner-up on 144 (72-72).
Lewis's effort helped Louisville (591) to win the team title by nine shots from Michigan State with Penn State third on 606.
One of the many weekend sporting events hit by bad weather across the United States, the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate tournament organisers cancelled the third and last round.
