SCOTTISH VETERANS HAVE ONE HAND
ON MARY McKENNA CUP

Scotland’s veteran women golfers took a commanding 4-1 lead over their Irish counterparts, playing under the banner of “Mary McKenna Select,” at the halfway stage of the annual match for the Mary McKenna Perpetual Trophy at Southerness Golf Club on the Solway Firth today.
Pamela Williamson (Baberton) set the ball rolling for the rampant Scots by beating Roma English 5 and 4 in the only singles tie of the day.
The rest of the matches were better-ball four-balls and Scotland’s winners were Kathleen Sutherland (Royal Montrose) & Fiona DeVries (St Rule), Moira Thomson (North Bewick) & Liz Campbell (Torwoodlee) and Noreen Fenton (Merchants of Edinburgh) & Lorna Bennett (Ladybank).
Ireland’s only winners were Helen McMullen and Rhona Fanagan who beat Margaret Tough (Falkirk Tryst) and Helen Faulds (Douglas Park) by 4 and 2.
