CLARE QUEEN BOUNCES BACK WITH 69
AS THREE SCOTS SURVIVE HALFWAY CUT
Clare Queen bounced back from a disappointing opening round of 75 to return a three-under-par 69 for a 36-hole tally of level par 142 in the Tenerife Ladies Open today.
Clare birdied the fourth, fifth, 12th, 14th and 17th. The only blot on her scorecard was a double bogey 7 at the long seventh in halves of 36 and 33.
Clare - and the other two Scots in the field, Lynn Kenny and Kathryn Imrie - all survived the 36-hole cut which fell at 149, ie. 150 failed to make it.
Lynn Kenny had a 72 for 148 with birdies at the first, 10th and 17th. She bogeyed the ninth, 14th and 16th in two halves of 36.
Kathryn Imrie, after a level par 72 in the first round, could not buy a birdie in the second round and was five over par with three holes to play but was able to get a birdie at last at the 17th to finish with a 76, also for 148.
Liz McKinnon, the Inverness-based Kiwi missed the cut with a two-round total of 151. She had scores of 77 and 74.
Trish Johnson moved into the clubhouse lead with rounds of 71 and 70 for a three-under-par total of 141 but was overtaken late in the day by the first-round leader, Spain's Ana B Sanchez who had a 73 for 140.
