HEATHER BLOOMING AGAIN
- LEADS BY FOUR SHOTS IN
WELSH STROKE-PLAY

Former British women’s open amateur stroke-play champion Heather MacRae from Dunblane recaptured that Nairn links form of 2005 to sweep four shots clear of the field in the Welsh women’s open amateur stroke-play championship at Newport Golf Club today.
Heather, pictured right, 23, a Curtis Cup reserve last year strung together rounds of 70 and 75 for 145, compared with the par of 72 and a CSS of 75 for both rounds.
Portuguese Open winner earlier this season, Holly Aitchison (Bedfordshire) and Sahra Hassan (Vale of Glamorgan) are Heather’s closest challengers on 149.
Next best Scot after Heather is her “sparring partner,” Jenna Wilson (Strathaven) in joint 14th position on 154 with scores of 79 and 75.
There is no cut in this event. Everyone who played today’s 36 holes will play the final 18 holes.
