HEATHER FOLLOWS IN WELSH FOOTSTEPS
OF CATRIONA, ANNE AND VIKKI
Dunblane’s Heather MacRae added her name to the list of Scottish winners of the Welsh women’s open amateur stroke-play golf championship at Newport Golf Club today (Sunday).
Heather, 23, recaptured the form that won her the British stroke-play title at Nairn in 2005, with rounds of 70, 75 and 74 for a total of 219 – three shots ahead of runner-up Bronwyn Mullins-Lane (Harefield Place).
Two Manchester club players, Kelly Tidy and Rachel Connor, daughter of the Scots-born professional, finished third and fourth on 223 and 225 respectively.
Heather made all the running in the 54-hole event to follow in the footsteps of compatriot winners Catriona Lambert (1992), Anne Walker (1999) and Vikki Laing (2001-2002-2003).
