LAURA MURRAY TURNS TABLE ON
COUNTY CHAMPION MICHELE


Seven days after losing to Michele Thomson (McDonald Ellon) in the final of the Aberdeenshire women’s county golf championship at Newmachar, Alford’s Laura Murray outstripped her teenage rival and fellow scratch player by eight shots in the Aberdeenshire girls’ medal competition at Aboyne today.
Laura, 18, who is also a member at Aboyne, shot a two-under-par 70 in drizzling rain with birdies at the seventh, ninth and 12th in halves of 34 and 36. Her only bogey came at the third.
Michele had halves of 39 for a 78. Both girls are competing in the Scottish women’s amateur championship at Barassie, starting on Tuesday. So too is Samantha Leslie (Westhill) matched Miss Thomson’s 78.
