SALTMAN BREAKS INTO R&A WORLD
TOP TEN AMATEUR RANKINGS

Lytham Trophy winner Lloyd Saltman has broken into the top 10 of today's updated R&A World Amateur Golf Rankings for the first time on the back of his weekend victory in the prestigious English 72-hole stroke-play tournament.
Saltman, winner of the Scottish Champion of Champions at Leven and then the Craigmillar Park Open in Edinburgh in successive weekends prior to his all-the-way Lytham Trophy success, was 16th in the rankings last week.
Now he is officially the ninth best male amateur golf in the world - in fact some would say in effect he is really a lot higher than that.
Englishman Jamie Moul, who has been No 1 in the rankings for 13 weeks in a row, finished down the Lytham Trophy field behind Saltman. So too did Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and England's Gary Wolstenholme who are also still ahead in Lloyd in the sixth and seventh spots in the rankings.
Spaniard Pablo Martin, an American college student and winner of a recent European Tour event, is ranked No 2 behind Moul. Martin will turn pro after the NCAA championships at the end of this month.
Edinburgh-born Welsh Walker Cup playere Rhys Davies, another on the American college circuit, is ranked No 3.
US amateur champion Richie Ramsay (Royal Aberdeen), long-time No 1 in the world after his victory last autumn at Hazeltine, has dropped four places this week to No 12.
There are no other Scots in the world's top 50, according to the R&A rankings.
Scott Henry (Cardross) has improved from 77th to 64th while Paul O'Hara (Colville Park) has gone down from 55th to 76th, both on the strength of their Lytham Trophy performances.
Scottish amateur match-play champion Kevin McAlpine (Alyth) has dropped from No 56 to 83 while John Gallagher (Swanston) has come into the top 100 from 106th place to 93rd.
