BRIGHT YOUNG SCOTS HEADING SOUTH OF BORDER

The Scottish Golf Union is sending eight bright young prospects to Southport & Ainsdale, Lancashire next week to contest the English Under-16 boys' open stroke-play championship for the McGregor Trophy.Two teams of three will represent Scotland in the Nations Cup, held in conjunction with the main event, while Inchmarlo’s Chris Robb and Aberdonian William Russell, the youngest ever men's champion of The Duke's Golf Club, St Andrews, will compete alongside the six other Scots in a field of 132 for the individual title race for the McGregor Trophy.

The Scotland teams are:
1 Colin Baird (Bothwell Castle), David Law (Hazlehead), Paul McPhee (King James VI).
2 Daniel Young (Craigie Hill), Tom Blennerhassett (Dalmahoy), Andrew McLachlan (Bonnyton).

The 72-hole tournament starts on Wednesday and finishes on Friday.
