LADIES TO BENEFIT AT KART HILLS

The thought of go-karts on the fairway may terrify most greenkeepers that will not be the case at the Chart Hills Ladies English Open, in association with Golf Punk.
Players in the event will not have to worry about pulling a trolley after GoKart offered to supply motorised trolleys for the event.
The Canterbury-based company has created quite a stir in the last four months with its new cutting-edge, powered golf trolley – and the Ladies European Tour will certainly benefit from the presence of such a contemporary and eye-turning product at one of its events.
Company partner Sandy Catford, herself a former tour professional, explained: “Obviously some of the girls will have caddies but for those who don’t the offer is there for them to use a GoKart to ensure all their energies are concentrated on their golf and not the logistics of getting clubs from one shot to the next.
“The GoKart is ideal for this sort of tournament golf as it is lightweight and compact but without sacrificing durability. The trolley is an excellent sales tool in itself. When it’s parked outside the pro shop we’re always asked ‘where did you get it?’ – so it’s an ambassador for the company.”
It was released into the marketplace in February after two-and-a-half years’ worth of research and trials.
But Catford and her husband Chris, the duo behind the company, had little doubt the product would be a success – after all they have nearly 50 years experience in the trolley industry – they were behind the thriving Powakaddy and Hill Billy brands.
The GoKart was borne out of that experience and was designed to be fresh and innovative.
“Golf fashion has evolved and is quite a vibrant sector,” continued Catford. “But golf trolleys haven’t really kept pace with that dynamic change. GoKart remedies that and brings golf trolley design into the 21st century.”
Chart Hills’ general manager, Rod Park, said: “Ladies golf is a fresh, lively part of the sport, as illustrated by Golf Punk’s involvement. And having GoKart available to all the players at the Ladies English Open is a further indication of how the tour is at the vanguard of the renaissance in golf.”
GoKart’s presence at the Chart Hills Ladies English Open, in association with Golf Punk, will not only be a commercial venture for Sandy Catford – it will also me a memorable social occasion.
She added: “It’s 20 years since I’ve been on tour so it will be nice to catch up with some old friends who won’t be expecting to see me.”
