JENNA WILSON 69 AS SCOTS JOINT
SIXTH IN EUROPEAN WOMEN'S TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP FIRST Q ROUND

Scotland were lying joint sixth at the halfway stage of the stroke-play qualifying competition in the European women's amateur team championship at Golf Club Castelconturbia, Italy.
Anna Nordqvist (Sweden), beaten in the final of the recent Ladies' British open amateur championship, showed the low-scoring possibilities with a course-record 64, the lowest score ever recorded by anyone, male or female, amateur or professional at this Italian venue.
Even Jose Maria Olazabal and Costantino Rocca could not do better than 66s in their day.
Anna had eight birdies and no bogeys.
Carlota Ciganda, who beat Miss Nordqvist in the final at Alwoodley, spearheaded Spain into the lead with a 66, closely followed by compatriot Emma Cabrera.
England did best of the four home countries with a first-round team total of 363 to put them in fourth place after Spain (349), Sweden (357) and Germany (359).
Rachel Bell and Melissa Reid top-scored for England with 71 apiece. England were able to discard one of their 74s.
Contrast that with Scotland who had to count a 75 (from Rachael Livingstone), a 76 (from Michele Thomson) and a 77 (from Heather MacRae). Emily Ogilvy (78) had Scotland's non-counting score.
Jenna Wilson, pictured above, had a good day with a three-under-par 69 which included five birdies and two bogeys.
Next best in the Scotland camp was Roseanne Niven with a 74.
The Scots are in joint sixth place on 371 with France.
Ireland (369) are just ahead of Scotland in fifth place. Danielle McVeigh was the Irish pin-up girl with a 68.
Wales are in eighth place - and only eight teams make up the championship flight - with 372. Sahra Hassan was the Welsh best with a 73.
