LINDSAY KIRKWOOD IS NEW DUMFRIES-SHIRE CHAMPION

Lindsay Kirkwood (Powfoot) won the Dumfries-shire Ladies County Golf Association championship by beating another first-time finalist, Eileen Scott (Lockerbie), by 5 and 4 at Lockerbie GC today.
Both contestants played well and the decisive factor was that Lindsay coped better with the lightning fast greens and some difficult pin placements on slopes.
In the semi-finals, Lindsay beat J Graham (Dumfries & Galloway) 7 and 5 while Eileen beat Fiona Macgregor (Thornhill) 2 and 1.
In the final of the handicap competition, Elena Coppola beat Sue Bedford (Dumfries & Galloway)2 and 1.
