SAMMY VASS KNOCKS OUT SHIRE TEAM
PLAYER CAROL WILSON AT LOSSIE

Surprise result of the morning first-round ties in the North of Scotland women's amateur championship over the Moray Golf Club Old Course at Lossiemouth was the defeat of the No 5 seed, Carol Wilson (Murcar Links) by young Sammy Vass (Tain).
-Sammy, who was was 12th of the 16 qualifiers for the match-play stages, beat the Aberdeenshire team player by 7 and 6 and will now play the No 4 seed, Emily Ogilvy (Muckhart), 6 and 5 conqueror of Gillian Wallace (Glenisla).
