SALLY BEATEN IN SECOND ROUND OF US
GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP

Sally Watson was beaten 5 and 3 by Tiffany Lua from Rowland Heights, California in the second round of the United States girls' junior golf championship at Tacoma Country & Golf Club, Lakewood in Washington State.
Sally won only two holes, the seventh and the 11th, cutting her deficit on both occasions to one hole.
But the 16-year-old South Queensferry girl, who had been the sixth best qualifier for the match-play stages, lost four holes in a row from the 12th.
Tiffany birdied the 12th to go two up. Then Sally bogeyed the 13th and 14th to go four down. The American, the 26th qualifier, finished off the match with a birdie 2 at the short 15th.
Sally was three over par for the holes played, in contrast to the morning first-round tie when she had been two under par in winning by 2 and 1 against Karis Akin from Kentucky to reach the last 32.
Twelve months ago, Sally had made it through to the last 16.
