SCOTS GIRLS NEED SPECIAL EFFORT
TO MAKE CHAMPIONSHIP FLIGHT
IN A VERY WET NORWAY

Scotland will have to pull up their socks if they are to be one of the top eight teams who will go forward to the championship match-play flight after tomorrow's second stroke-play qualifying round of the European girls’ team golf championship at Oslo Golf Club, Norway.
On a miserably wet day – the start was delayed until 11am because conditions were so bad, the Scots squad mustered a team total of 228. Vagliano Trophy player Krystle Caithness (St Regulus), expected to be the lead player had, instead, a non-counting score of 79. Only the best three from score counted.
So that left Scotland sharing 10th place with Finland and Italy and needing to overtake both Netherlands and Belgium who start the second Q round three strokes ahead of them.
LOWEST SCORERS
Comrie’s Carly Booth and Sally Watson (Elie & Earlsferry) were Scotland’s lowest scorers.
They both had three-over-par 75s to be joint 19th in the individual scores.. Carly bogeyed the first, third, fourth and 13th before she had her first and only birdie at the 15th in halves of 39 and 36.
Sally had a birdie at the fifth but bogeys at the foureth, sixth, eighth and 16th in halves of 38 and 37.
Kelsey MacDonald (Nairn Dunbar) had a disappointing 79 for joint 48th position. Kelsey bogeyed the third, sixth, seventh and 17th before finishing with a double-bogey at the 18th in halves of 39. Kelsey had no birdies.
Krystle Caithness’s 79 included a triple bogey 7 at the fourth and finished with three successive bogeys.
Krystle did have birdies at the second, 10th and 14th in halves of 41 and 38.
The best score of the day was a three-under-par 69 from Audrey Gourmand (France).
