ALEX PETERS (13) LEADS NORTH OF ENGLAND
UNDER-16 GIRLS' CHAMPIONSHIP

Nottinghamshire 13-year-old Alex Peters shot a three-under par 71 to lead the girls’ event in the North of England Under-16s championship at Heswall, Cheshire today.
Alex, who plays in the English Ladies’ Golf Association’s Select Midlands squad, is three shots clear of the field. The Notts Ladies’ player was the 2006 English Under-13 champion and is the reigning Midland ladies’ champion,
Alex had an excellent day on the greens, requiring just 27 putts, as she notched up five birdies and also holed a couple of good 15-footers for impressive par saves. She had just one blot on her card, a double bogey 5 on the short fifth hole.
Nikki Timmins, who is overseeing the ELGA squad at the championship, said: “It was a brilliant score in difficult conditions. It was a lovely, bright day but there was a strong wind.
