JENNA WILSON TOP SCOT IN EURO
WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP DAY 1


Scottish champion Jenna Wilson from Strathavan was lying a creditable joint 12th in a field of 144 at the end of the first round of the European women's amateur golf championship at Golf Club National near Paris today.
Jenna, pictured right, had a two-over-par round of 74 despite running up a quadruple bogey 7 at the short third.
Out in two-over 38, thanks to birdies at the sixth and ninth, Jenna birdied the 14th and 16th on the way home but cancelled that out with bogeys at the 12th and 17th.
Gemma Webster (Hilton Park) was sharing 32nd place after a 76. She had a couple of early birdies, at the second and fourth, in halves of 37 and 39.
Stirling University student Claire-Marie Carlton had her first birdie of the day at the 16th and then parred the last two holes to escape with an 81 after going out in five-over-par 41.
Kylie Walker (Buchanan Castle had a triple bogey 8 at the long 14th followed by a double bogey 6 at the 15th - her third double bogey of the round - and finished on 86 (42-44).
At the time of writing this report, Claire-Marie Carlton was still out on the course. She was nine over par after 15 holes having gone out in five-over-par 41.
